Economic researches predict a massive decline in the economic output and many claim this crisis to be the most severe since World War II. One has to acknowledge though, that the preconditions to solve this crisis are totally different to the situation in 1945.

Siemens VAI Communication Design is a project to detect the needs of the employees concerning communication within the company buildings.

Main goals:
- First goal is to define scenarios for a regular and target-group-specific inhouse-communication.
- As there are 5 edifices at the campus, a bonding shall be created that fosters the community and increases the identification with the company.

Artists who create interactive systems and artistic interface designs have begun to look for new display possibilities. For this reason façade's of contemporary buildings have been largely investigated as a sort of membrane for the display of interactive digital content.

The intention of the DOM project concerning service is to research the effects of the increasing present social needs for service and its relation to architecture.

A 1970 erected, multi-storied office building should be redeveloped completely. In the course of redevelopment it will receive a new façade. Core of the project will be the design of the metal sun- and sightscreen placed in front of the glass façade.

 

This survey about design and branding was initiated within the framework of the regional system of innovation in Upper Austria (RIO) by the Upper Austrian Technology- and Marketing Association (TMG).

Regarding the increasing individualisation of society and the growing need to self-determine ones surrounding according to ones interests and preferences today’s process of planning of housing estates or block of flats conflicts enormously.

In Summer 2002 the community area of Saxen (Upper Austria) was entirely flooded. In order to secure the people’s home in future, the government proposed to resettle the inhabitants of the region to a field on a hill located nearby.

Embrace the swarm is a long-term research project that was initiated by the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz, Austria and is being carried on in the form of courses held in cooperation with the Ars Electronica Center / FutureLab.
